Model driven 3D Reconstruction of Urban Objects from Sparse 3D Point Clouds based on Roof Shape Libraries

Lupe [1]

Because of recent developments in dense image matching methods for optical remote sensing data, more and more 3D point clouds become available originating from very high-resolution satellite images. Compared to aerial sensor platforms, the sensor setup in orbit yields a lower number of overlapping images and many (partial) occlusions.

3D Building Reconstruction from Airborne Laser Scanning Point Clouds

Lupe [3]

For several years 3D city models assume a central role in urban and regional planning, surveying, navigation and telecommunications and enable in the environmental field precise analyses and simulations of pollutant, flood and noise propagation.

Model and Data Driven Multi-Criteria Spatial Decision Support Systems

Lupe [5]

Human decision-making is in many cases less than optimal and it further degrades with the complexity of the problem and external stress factors. The need to improve the quality of decision-making and reduce the probability of wrong judgements gives rise to intensive research in this area.

Modeling of Indoor and Enclosed Environments from 3D Point Clouds

Lupe [7]

With the rising urban population and the growing complexity of cities as conglomerates of enclosed spaces, modeling of indoor and enclosed environments gained increased attention in the last couple of years. The models are needed for various purposes, such as navigation, facility management, security, preservation and documentation, etc.

Seamless 3D-Indoor and Outdoor Navigation supporting User Context including Location Based Services

Lupe [9]

Navigation in indoor environments is already a hot topic and part of several research projects world-wide. Due to the absence of a full GPS signal coverage in indoor environments, in recent years indoor navigation and localization techniques getting a higher attention and many promising approaches were made to locate and guide individuals indoors and to create navigation algorithms for such spaces.

Cartographic Abstraction and Obfuscation Techniques for Privacy Enabled 3D City Models

Lupe [11]

Due to recent technological progress, data capturing and processing of highly detailed (3D) data has become extensive. And despite all prospects of potential uses, data that includes personal living spaces and public buildings can also be considered as a serious intrusion into people’s privacy and a threat to security.

UAV-Based 3D Data Collection and Processing

Lupe [13]

Recent developments in UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) technology and SfM (Structure from Motion) techniques caused UAVs to become standard platforms for 3D data collection. Because of their capability to provide high resolution and very accuracy data, drones are viewed as a low-cost alternative to traditional aerial platforms.

Quality Assessment of Multi-Representations of Building Footprints

Lupe [15]

Along with the constantly improving acquisition, processing, and visualization techniques, the amount of spatial data that is available today has dramatically increased. As a consequence, various data sets for one and the same area are often available, reflecting temporal changes or representations at different levels of detail.

Building Façade Reconstruction from Mobile Laser Scanning Point Clouds

Lupe [17]

3D modeling based on geospatial data is one of the core topics in geoinformatics. Worldwide research on object reconstruction methods is pushed by the permanently increasing spectrum of virtual city model applications, accompanied by the need for efficient, accurate, and highly automated algorithms.
